We became big fans of this organization a few years back, when Philip commuted to Raleigh from Chapel Hill, and I rode the bus to UNC from my apartment in Durham. We became “choice riders”, trading windshield time for personal time (reading, writing, studying). Triangle Transit has been making this area a better spot to live for two decades now, and they hired us to make a film to celebrate this momentous occasion. Many thanks to the outstanding staff we got to meet and work with on this project!

Maureen + Justin chose to celebrate their wedding with family and friends in Mexico’s Maya Riviera region at a fantastic all-inclusive resort: El Dorado Royale. The resort was spectacular on so many levels, but honestly, none of this would have been any fun if M + J weren’t so dang cool. The couple and their friends and family were so hospitable, and obviously excited we’d joined them. Maureen (who made the fantastic jewelry her bridesmaids wore) even had a necklace she’d made for me on the wedding day too!  We worked hard during their wedding weekend, but spent the few following days just relaxing on the beach. In addition to filming the events, Philip and I spent several hours one day capturing some of the sights and sounds around the resort and the beaches. It was just so perfect and it all played into the way their wedding sounded and felt, so we hope it comes across in this film (and their Feature Film which we will begin editing shortly).
Maureen & Justin: thanks for inviting us along on an incredible weekend of celebrating your relationship and commitment to one another. We know you’ll share many adventures in your married life, and we are grateful we were part of the first adventure! Enjoy your new life on the west coast!

First, I must say, Emily might be one of our biggest fans. This was from an email I got from Emily on the morning after she was engaged:

“Hello, hello! Oh my goodness, my boyfriend proposed to me last night and you are the FIRST EMAIL I am sending because we must must must have you at our wedding!”

Can you tell how zany she is by her awesome email? Well she is the real deal. And so is Chris. And when they get together, they are a force beyond words. We loved being part of their wedding day so much! For one, it was filled with tons of DIY, original, crafty details (feathers rather than flowers in January? yes please!). But as is usually the case with weddings we love, the people at their wedding made it so memorable. From their cool dual-ministers, to their friends singing a-capella, to their rad photographers (Story Photographers). The day was filled with genuine moments and true, joyful celebration

Thank you, Emily & Chris, for being so excited about having us at your wedding and for the warmth you are spreading in Raleigh and beyond.

Like, really cool. And, as we’d expect, cool people throw cool weddings. Theirs just happened to have these awesome details:

-the NC coastline
-a groom on a boat riding to his wedding
-a ceremony at an 18c historic site
-the couples’ dog in their wedding (!)
-a surprise mariachi serenade during cocktail hour
-margaritas and a taco bar

So glad we got the chance to film their wedding down in New Bern!  We had a blast capturing all of the fun elements of the day (Philip loved his boat ride with the groomsmen) and we think Julianne has one of the sweetest smiles on earth. We also got to share the day shooting alongside  Nancy & Will Ray, two all-round awesome peeps!

Janel and Nick had us interview their friends and family (they chose a few people for us to speak with the day before their wedding) and we  incorporated their responses and words-of-wisdom into the couples’ wedding films. So fun! We go way back with Janel’s family (well, “way back”  as in : we filmed her brother’s wedding to Ann-Marie and got to know her lovely family through the process). So, when Janel reached out to us after their engagement last winter, we were extremely excited to be joining them again, but also anticipating getting to know Nick too! I love this couple’s creativity and the way they value the simple act of spending time together doing normal day-to-day things! Their story is emotionally charged and blossomed out of sincere friendship. We were honored to speak with their loved ones and learn more about their relationship and SO enjoyed the wedding day spent with this crew!

Oh, and we got to work with Sarah Der again (!!!!) . Words can’t express how much we adore Sarah. She knows how to work hard/ play hard and we think that is cool! And she makes a subtle appearance in this film. And no, Sarah, we don’t owe you royalties.

Because truly, Joey & Kim are just THAT awesome! Also, they had an over-the-top beautiful Fearrington wedding on one of those perfect October days in NC.

We feel a strong connection to these two. It could be the love of Durham we all share (as is evidenced by their quirky table/escort cards). Or, maybe it’s the fact we share more than a few mutual friends! Even before their wedding we were pretty smitten with these two, but that affection grew during their wedding day for sure. Kim and Joey (and their incredible family and friends) were so gracious with us. Also, these two KNOW HOW TO THROW A PARTY. Did you see the photo booth fun? Please watch this crew dance their booties off during the reception in the Fearrington Barn. Gosh, we are so lucky that our job is working with couples like Joey & Kim. Thank you, you two, for being so encouraging to us in our work, and for sharing your wedding day with us! We’ll see ya around town, I hope!
