In June, we had the distinct privilege of joining Scott & Christina for their wedding on the horse farm where Christina grew up, near Upperville, Virginia. Incorporating the horse barn, the rolling landscape and the quaint village of Upperville, their wedding was both personal and filled with incredible beauty.

We were thrilled to work with Maria + Kelly from Ritzy Bee Events, who helped Christina realize her vision for their wedding and planned everything so perfectly. From the Scottish bagpiper, to the vintage car, to the giant horse topiary, and the cocktails under the trees, this wedding was packed with details that were meaningful as well as very fun to shoot! We also had the chance to work alongside photographer Patricia Lyons, a doodle lover like us, whose images are sure to be stunning! Really, this wedding was a culmination of so many talented wedding creatives, and we’re so glad we got to be a part of it!

Eli & Laura: Highlands, NC Wedding Highlights

Last month Eli and Laura threw one heck of a celebration in our favorite mountain town of Highlands, NC. Against the backdrop of The Bascom, the couple with their families and friends, enjoyed a perfect June day in the mountains celebrating their marriage and we’re SO glad we got to join in the fun!

The ceremony was held in the pottery barn and guests sat on wooden benches surrounded by clay pots waiting to be fired. It was a very cool ceremony setting! We loved the giant wall-sized art which served as a “guest book” of sorts, and the festive maracas and lighting around the cocktail spot. The band was INCREDIBLE. Seriously. Having traveled in from Texas they brought a BIG party! We had a blast working with Think Big and The Bulletproof Brass as well as filming the couple and their guests dancing the entire night, even as they marched off with the horn section of the band to their vintage car.

The food played a huge part in the evening as well. Eli and Laura met working in one of the top restaurants in the South and are true foodies. Their dinner was both incredibly beautiful and delicious. Sun in My Belly knocked it out of the park. But that’s nothing new for them!

Eric & Katherine : Asheville Wedding Highlights

Oh boy, we’ve been dying to share this film on our blog since before we even started editing it! When we left Katherine & Eric’s wedding weekend, I called my sister in Maine to tell her how awesome the weekend was. I think I told her, “It was as aesthetically beautiful as it was meaningful and emotional!” Folks, that’s not always easy to achieve. We felt so welcomed by Eric, Katherine and their families. Full disclosure: we got to know many of these fine folks when Katherine’s brother Bryan was married to Megan a few years ago. We filmed their wedding too! So, we knew what kind of heartfelt celebration we were in for!

The weekend began with a Persian ceremony arranged by Eric’s family and was filled to the brim with unique customs and delicacies. It was the perfect kickoff to the weekend, and Katherine & Eric (who have been together since high school!) were “serenaded” by their loved ones through both the ceremony and their toasts: filled with loving words and heartfelt wishes for these two awesome people!

Fast forward to the ceremony, where there was probably not a dry eye in the gorgeous Deerpark lodge room. We truly loved just pointing our cameras at so much joy and love and authenticity. Oh, and beauty. Gosh, THOSE mountains as a backdrop for THAT couple! Words cannot….

The Biltmore and Asheville Event Co. did a phenomenal job of helping Katherine realize her vision for the wedding day. We finally got the chance to shoot with Elizabeth & David of Almond Leaf Studios. These two are incredibly kind and talented and we thoroughly enjoyed shooting alongside them! Oh dear, I’m not sure where to even start with these two! You should just stop reading this blog post and go watch their film (below). Because when you do, you will understand, through snippets of toasts by friends and family, why we think they are so awesome. So you bring these two really fantastic individuals together for one intense weekend of celebration in the mountains of North Carolina and the weekend becomes memorable for everyone, especially for those of us lucky enough to document it. We’re so grateful, Sarah & Daniel, that you chose us to join you for your wedding weekend. Thanks for being so open with us and to your friends and family for being so generous and kind.

We also had the chance to work with some fantastic Asheville creatives, which is always a treat. We re-united with Brian and Gry of Woodward & Rick. These two are SO professional and yet incredibly fun to work with. Thankfully we met Nicole Bloom of Two Sweet Sparrows. She and her team were stellar, really.

Oh, and may I say that we’ve worked with some awesome bands lately. This wedding band is one of the very best. The Downtown Band truly rocked this reception! We were so excited to hear such creative renditions of classic dance tunes and I think Philip may have had to pull me off the dance floor…

Adam & Anne : Wedding Highlights, New Bern NC

Oh, these two. Adam & Anne. I bet you can tell how they sweet they are just by watching their wedding highlights film! Am I right? They are FILLED with joy and it really does exude from their faces and is contagious for anyone lucky enough to spend time with this unique couple. The story of how they met is brilliantly cinematic and we were so happy they have an official audio recording of their first encounter (and shared it with us!), and that Adam’s brother chose to share it with the guests at their reception.

Whitford Plantation was the perfect setting for these two to be married and celebrate among family and friends. It’s a little gem of an old home with idyllic grounds right on the water and near the historic New Bern, NC. We got to shoot alongside my sister, photographer Meredith Perdue, at this wedding and as always we had a blast. Her images from their wedding are both artful and straightforward, and its a style that suited this couple perfectly.

This celebration was decidedly southern and filled with more tender moments than a Nicholas Sparks book (Ok, I couldn’t help myself. He lives near Whitford Plantation). Seriously though, we are incredibly thankful we got to join these two families for such an awesome union on such a perfect day. Thank you Adam & Anne!

Ashley & Tim : Wedding Highlights

Folks, welcome to Georgia, where Ashley & Tim threw one incredibly fun wedding weekend filled with heartfelt laughter, crazy dancing and a ton of beautiful details. The couple combined a little of their Nashville-boho style with Southern familial charm to create a truly memorable weekend for their guests (and us!).

The weekend opened with an al-fresco poolside dinner and ended on a dance floor filled with friends from all over, including a few that knew the Footloose dance perfectly (you’ll see). They incorporated their love for music with a Nashville-based bluegrass band named Don Gallardo, who rocked our socks off during the ceremony + cocktail hour. Ashley, the creative eye behind Winters Lane Photography, designed the paper elements and partnered with Amy Osaba to truly transform this reception space. AND (as if that were not enough) we finally got to work with the lovely miss Ali Harper, who is a little powerhouse of kindness and good photos. Too many wonderful details to mention. Finally back from a little blog hiatus and oh-so-eager to share Melissa & Vance’s wedding highlights film! If you don’t know Melissa, take a little stroll over to the “About Us” section of our website and you’ll learn she’s as quirky as she is cute, and as thoughtful as she is creative. We’re lucky to call her our associate editor. She’s been invaluable to Inkspot Crow Films over the last few years! Well we just love a good spring wedding and Amy & Will’s celebration falls right into that quintessential category. After a long, hard winter we welcomed blue skies and warmth as we spent the day with this smiley couple and their families. Amy and Will have been dating since high school and we loved witnessing the extremely personal ceremony from their minister, Rev. Clayton, who has known them as individuals and as a couple since they were young. It was fitting that they chose to be married at St. Mary’s Chapel, since Amy attended high school at St. Mary’s and had been dreaming about her wedding there since she was young.

Amy and Will were the first couple to celebrate their wedding at the newly renovated Merrimon-Wynne house in downtown Raleigh. We were SO grateful to be one of the first to capture this awesome old home and found ourselves constantly swooning over the architectural and design details of this new venue. We have a heart for restored homes with a story! Their venue was definitely a big part of Amy & Will’s wedding narrative, and we’re so glad we got time to capture it’s beauty as a backdrop to their celebration.

Ricky & Rose : Wedding Highlights, Costa Rica

These two. They had us at hello. Their hello happened to be in an email sent from their home in Costa Rica, where they shared all kinds of fun details about their lives, their relationship, their creative jobs and their shared connection to our work. Gosh, we couldn’t wait to join them for their wedding this winter and what a wedding it was! We got to escape the dreary, damp February cold for a colorful, sunny wedding celebration in San Jose Costa Rica! Their tropical vintage wedding was beyond beautiful!

In addition to being superbly thoughtful and kind, both Ricky and Rose are incredibly talented creatives. In fact, one of their shared passion is design: in the form of photography, graphic art, video, music and fashion. Check out their new online shop, Click & Blossom. Separately, Ricky designs and produces these hip clothes and Rose, who studied photography, works as a graphic designer for photographers. We have to brag on Rose for a moment. She (along with the help of Ricky and their wedding planner) created the most interesting, beautifully handmade details for their wedding and for their guests. You guys, she HAND LETTERED all of the amazing details, chalk boards, cards, etc. you see in this film. Will & MK : Wedding Highlights, Nashville, TN

Last month we had the privilege of traveling to Nashville to film (and celebrate!) our cousin MK’s wedding to Will. It was one of the most special weddings we’ve witnessed and we have heaps of confidence that MK & Will will continue to glorify God in the way they love each other, their families and community. We adored the intimate living room ceremony and the symbolism it holds for this couple, who will return to this home for years to come and recall the commitment they made in front of the fireplace. I mean, how many people can say they got married in front of their parents’ fireplace? Dinner and dancing in downtown Nashville was not only gorgeous, it was celebratory!

It was our first time filming a family wedding and we loved it. We loved pointing the camera at our crazy cousins dancing, our grandma watching joyfully and our inspirational parents, aunts and uncles. It was so cool to witness our own family welcoming Will’s family in celebration of these two. We’re really grateful to MK, Will and their families for including us in their lovely wedding. We can’t wait to see ya at Thanksgiving! xo
